“Ensconsed in St. Joe”
Missouri.
At a ‘Loves’ RV Spot. Just water and electric.
375 mile, 4 state day (SD, IA, NB, MO).
We got out of Mitchell SD late today, even for us.
Almost 11:30 am.
Last night around 02:00, the sky opened, and announced ‘The End of the World’.
“Thunder, lightning
Very very exciting
Knock on wood!”
No wood knocking, but the thunder and lightning were exciting, sounding like it was directly on top of us.
Then came the deluge.
Like ‘pouring piss from a boot’.
It wasn’t a downpour, it was waves crashing ashore.
This morning we arose around 06:00, to find our rig sitting in a foot of water.
We therefore waited for the water to drain off.
No, no it didn’t., it stayed mostly ankle deep on me.
I then ‘broke camp’ wearing flip flops. Luckily the service (driver’s) side was just mud and grass that had recently been cut.
I disconnected all of our services while my bride prepped the interior.
My flip flops were now the size of snow shoes, a combination of red mud and grass clippings. We used to call it ‘Gumbo mud’.
You’d think that would be a pain in the ass to clean up.
Normally you’d be correct, but lucky for me, the Entrance side of the rig still had 6” of standing water. By the time I approached the stairs and did a shuffle step. My flip flops and feet were now, ‘clean’.
My beautiful bride was ready to go to the truck.
She looked at our ‘lake’, and then looked at me…
I sighed, turned my back to the stairs, and said
“C’mon!”
She leapt into my back and I carried her to the passenger side, front door of the truck.
I set her down, she kissed me on the cheek, and said;
“This morning is why you are a ‘Trophy Husband’!”
I then finished the road prep, hooked up the rig, dried my feet and put on my boots.
I never drive pulling the rig in anything but a pair of non-skid, Timberland boots.
I make sure that ‘footwear’ doesn’t cause any driving issues.
Pictures: 1. our ‘lake’
2. My foot near our stairs
3. My ‘trophy husband’ shirt.
Send help......and a storage unit. He kept the m'fer a secret. Maybe I should come home with a pair of $1000 shoes.
Congratulation to @SGKusmertz, @bek1, and @wilbner. Your questions were chosen for tonight’s Ask Joe and the Panelists.
@SGKusmertz If you could have one song play when you enter a room, what would it be?
@bek1 Do you usually feel excited or stressed out about going back to school after summer break?
@wilbner What was the best prank you’ve ever pulled?
In honor of @johnconner2046 returning to the board, some jokes and a meme
And because John returning was just what the doctor ordered, these are all doctor related
John saw his doctor yesterday and showed him the rash on his butt.
But the doctor completely ignored him and kept scanning his groceries through the checkout.
John says that he doesn't ofter roll a joint.
But when he does, its his ankle...on the curb
John created a new dating app for people who are on the same meds as you.
It’s called Relationscripts.
