16 bonus years. Today marks my 16th year anniversary of surviving what the doctors said should have been a fatal heart attack, through the grace of God, I am still here. 3 major miracles happened that day.

#1 - I was on Loop 820, eastbound at Holiday lane. For those that do not travel this part of the loop, it is always bumper to bumper. I was in the far left lane and at the last possible second, I decided to exit across four lanes of traffic and drive myself to the hospital, there was not a single car behind me. I did not have the "Hollywood" heart attack, no chest pain, no jaw pain, no sickness, just felt that something was wrong.

2,when I walked in the hospital, the nurse could tell I was in serious trouble, she asked for my name and social number, then I hit the floor. They got some oxygen in me and asked for Kim's contact info, they then told me I was having a life threatening heart attack and they were going to try and save my life, I asked them to try hard!. Then they put the mask on my face and it was lights out, it was out of my hands, I asked God for forgiveness of my sins and if it was my time, to be with Kim Jones, Kelly Jones and Kody Jones to help them through the process.

3, the cardiologist was scrubbed in to do an elective procedure on another patient, they wheeled them out and wheeled me in. My back artery, the main one, was 100% blocked. They call it the widow maker, very few people survive it. I learned that day what matters in the life, it isn't your bank account, how many friends you have on social media, they size of your house or the car you drive. It is only whether you have a personal relationship with Jesus, because all of us will have "THAT" day when we take our last breathe.

It is amazing how many wonderful experiences I have had since that day. The new friends I made, the time I have spent with friends dating back to elementary school and most of all seeing my kids grow up into successful, amazing individuals and adding a daughter- n -law, and the additional time I have had with my rock, best friend, best supporter- my wife Kim. Enjoy your family, friends and be thankful, because I know first hand what it is like to stand at the fence, one side, green grass, the other, streets lined in gold.
