Reposted at the request of @apalm. I was telling him why Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday (even though we already have Christmas decorations up). Hope it's not too mushy. He said I should share it.
I have memories of Thanksgivings at my grandparent's house from when I was very young. I think that's what has stuck with me all these years. Thanksgiving is relaxing and usually everyone is happy because the anticipation of Christmas is in the air. I remember it always being cold and snowy but that just added to the warmth of the house and smell of the food cooking. The last one I hosted with all of my family I think was the best. It was around 2014 or so when my parents were still with us and healthy and driving themselves everywhere. We started at noon with appetizers and my parents, brother and sister and their families with the kids were all crowded in our tiny living room, watching Christmas Story on TV and passing around the Black Friday newspaper ads.
