Reposted at the request of @apalm. I was telling him why Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday (even though we already have Christmas decorations up). Hope it's not too mushy. He said I should share it.
I have memories of Thanksgivings at my grandparent's house from when I was very young. I think that's what has stuck with me all these years. Thanksgiving is relaxing and usually everyone is happy because the anticipation of Christmas is in the air. I remember it always being cold and snowy but that just added to the warmth of the house and smell of the food cooking. The last one I hosted with all of my family I think was the best. It was around 2014 or so when my parents were still with us and healthy and driving themselves everywhere. We started at noon with appetizers and my parents, brother and sister and their families with the kids were all crowded in our tiny living room, watching Christmas Story on TV and passing around the Black Friday newspaper ads. We had such a relaxing, fun day that went late into the evening. I'd give my right arm to go back for one hour, I really would. Sorry to get mushy on you. 🥰🤪
A 5-year-old boy went to visit his grandmother one day.
Playing with his toys in her bedroom while grandma was dusting, he looked up and said, Grandma, how come you don't have a boyfriend now that Grandpa went to heaven?
Grandma replied, Honey, my TV is my boyfriend. I can sit in my bedroom and watch it all day long. The religious programs make me feel good and the comedies make me laugh ... Im happy with my TV as my boyfriend.
Grandma turned on the TV, and the reception was terrible. She started
adjusting the knobs, trying to get the picture in focus. Frustrated, she started hitting the backside of the TV hoping to fix the problem.
The little boy heard the doorbell ring, so he hurried to open the door and there stood Grandmas minister. The minister said, Hello son, is your Grandma home?
The little boy replied, Yeah, shes in the bedroom bangin her boyfriend.
