Jack Reacher

I’ve seen the Tom Cruise movies.
I tried reading the books, they were awful.
As a former Police officer (Federal and Local), I see all the holes from the Law Enforcement side of the stories. I got no further than the first 100 pages, when I realized the author wasn’t even an American.
I looked him up, he’s a Brit.

I’m not impressed in the least with the character ‘Jack Reacher’.

We were on a Viking Cruise of the Aegean and Mediterranean seas, with My Big Brother, and his beautiful wife.
You may find this hard to believe, but when he and I go anywhere together, we kind of ‘stand out”.
He’s not as large as I, but he’s still 6’, 230 lbs. As a former Naval Officer, he is a commanding presence in his own right. When we are together, folks stop and stare.

During this trip, I was involved in multiple ‘incidents’. Surprise, surprise, yes, I know.
Several gentlemen tried picking fights, and I became known aboard ship, as ‘Zeus’.

Total strangers on the ship would say;
“Good morning ‘Zeus’!”
Because local Greeks at one stop all began calling me ‘Zeus’ for some reason.

MBB and I were well known among the 900 passengers. The ships Capt made it a point to say hello to us. The crew especially lit up when we were around. We are gracious, gregarious, and humorous.
And extra large.

At the end of the trip, we were in the main ships lounge, waiting to depart the ship in Venice, when a group of men approached me.

“What do you think of ‘Jack Reacher’?”
“The little former MP played by Tom Cruise? It’s a little sad that Don Knots has passed, he would be perfect for the role.”
“Well the books are different…” one responded
“Yes, I know, I could never finish the first one it was so bad…”
They were crestfallen…🤣😂🤣😂🤣
