We have lived in our house for 36 years
In the front yard was a hickory tree, mostly shaded by other trees.
Doing what all plants do, it grew to the light, and growing to the light meant it basically grew in an quarter circle arc...where it finally found direct sunlight!
The top of that hickory branched and thrived, and was a shade hand, blocking the sun to my garden. I decided to top it when I got back from visiting my Mom...but no need. It got so "top" heavy it snapped in the middle of the night.
It overdosed on Sunlight and killed itself. I got back today and spent the afternoon sawing off branches to get it off the top of the shed. I toted away the top of that tree in sections and realized how strong the tree was. I think it was the hickory nuts it was chock full of that finally did it in. Tons between the size of a golf ball and tennis ball.
Bonus on my return-My First Purple Cherokee tomato and just because it is unusual...our blooming snake plant...it had 6 bloom spikes this year...a record.
Diced uncooked Cherokee tomato over noodles with thai basil, olive oil, balsamic vinegar and fresh mozz. With a little oregano, rep pepper flakes, pepper and salt. Toss, add parm if you want. Buttered sourdough just because.
Thank you for watching the video! I hope you enjoyed it.

While patriotically standing on the balcony of the White House, on the birthday of the nation, and while watching a spectacular show of fireworks, the President is filled with only one thought...
This is for Greg. Because he loves river otters. We had one on the beach, and I also saw this terrific taxidermied guy at Pea Island yesterday. @GregGutfeld
