We just lost another legend today
Hollywood legend Tom Skerritt has passed away at 93
Some actors become inseparable from one character. Tom Skerritt had so many unforgettable roles that different generations knew him for completely different reasons.
The legendary actor has passed away at 93, closing a screen career that stretched across more than six decades of film and television.
Skerritt had the kind of presence that could fit almost anywhere, from science-fiction horror and military drama to family stories, westerns and television.
Some of his most memorable roles included:
Dallas — Alien
Viper — Top Gun
Sheriff Jimmy Brock — Picket Fences
Duke Forrest — MAS*H
Drum Eatenton — Steel Magnolias

From commanding the Nostromo to mentoring fighter pilots and leading small-town television drama, Skerritt never belonged to just one type of character.
From the Nostromo to the Danger Zone, Tom Skerritt didn’t belong to just one era of Hollywood. He became part of several.
Rest in peace, Tom Skerritt.
