We Remember

Twenty-five years later, we remember the lives lost, the heroes who stepped forward, and the families who have carried the unimaginable pain of losing someone they loved.

9/11 reminded us that nowhere feels completely safe and that life can change in an instant. But it also reminded us of courage, compassion, and the strength of people coming together.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

Andrew Wimsatt Making Things Last

25 years ago my boyfriend (now my husband) was working at O'Hare and when the planes hit, there were rumors that other airports were going to be hit. We had no cell phones then and I had no way of contacting him and spent the whole day at work watching the primitive internet coverage and then they brought in TV's to run the news. We were all sad and stunned and scared. I left work early and let myself in his house to wait for him. He came in the door and we just hugged and cried. Life at the airport after that changed forever, his livelihood was ruined but he endured through the end when he got hurt at work a few years ago and retired. They tried to ruin our country but we endured, and they have NEVER stopped trying. However, recently, I feel like they are succeeding, and we must never forget and we must keep speaking up.
