I'm not what you'd call a keen observer of the political climate in our country, but I do pay attention, broadly, to what's going on within our two parties. Watching the latest from Bill Maher, I was reminded of how we struggle to reconcile our support for an idea we might like, if it’s promoted by a politician we hate. And vice versa. Here though, we have an opportunity - Democrats, in particular - to speak out loudly and clearly against an ideology that has been proven, demonstrably, to be a really bad idea.

A lil-bit-o-fun with music & a story that reminded me of a story I taught years ago to my Level 3 readers & a song to go with it

There was an art to making a mixtape off the radio.
You heard the first few notes of the song you wanted and immediately lunged for RECORD.
Perfect timing.
No static.
Nobody walked into the room talking.
You were actually going to get the whole song this time.
Then the DJ decided he had something important to say.
"And coming up later tonight..."
GET OFF THE SONG.
There was no downloading a clean copy five seconds later. If you wanted that song on your tape, you waited until the station played it again and hoped the DJ showed a little restraint next time.
Eventually you had a cassette full of your favorite songs, complete with missing intros, chopped-off endings and the occasional DJ voice permanently baked into the recording.
It wasn't exactly studio quality.
But that tape went everywhere with you.
