A Summer Cocktail Celebration Day
NATIONAL TEQUILA DAY

I Love The Universe

Eight days after leaving Earth...

After traveling nearly 1 million miles (1.6 million km), orbiting the Moon, and making history with the first human landing on another world, Apollo 11 finally returned home.

On July 24, 1969, the Command Module Columbia splashed down safely in the Pacific Ocean.

For millions watching around the world, it wasn't just the end of a mission.

Proof that humans could leave Earth...

Reach another world...

Walk on its surface...

And come home safely.

As soon as the capsule landed, recovery teams rushed in. Because scientists didn't yet know whether the Moon might carry unknown microorganisms, the astronauts were placed into a Mobile Quarantine Facility—a modified trailer where they would spend the next several days before meeting their families.

The mission had lasted 8 days, 3 hours, 18 minutes, and 35 seconds.

Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins returned not only as astronauts...

They returned as explorers who had forever changed humanity's ...
