I'm getting cranky today. I've practically emptied my asthma inhaler over the past week just trying to breathe.
People act like the conditions from these Canadian wildfires are the same as with US fires ... but they're not. We haven't had a single summer that hasn't been impacted by Canada's wildfire smoke, and it's frustrating. The huge difference between Canada and the US is forestry management. Those fires wouldn't burn out of control for months if Canada's forests were healthy.
In our local forests, they do prescribed burns annually to get rid of dead, dry, or invasive undergrowth and set up natural break lines. They also cut down and clear dead trees on a regular basis. Both of these things impact how quickly a fire will spread and how long it will take to burn out. And I'm frequently hearing the excuse that Canada doesn't have enough equipment and personnel ... well, maybe it's time to divert the billions being spent on illegals to get more personnel to fix the problems.
Note to Babylon Bee: Here's your silver platter.
I guess he couldn't resist telling them he's a song writer...
