Lights Out
Bob Stroud was my favorite disc jockey, and one of the GOAT’s of his industry. He retired from radio today after 25 years at WDVR 97.1 FM (The Drive in Chicago). I have been a fan of his during all 25 years (The last 7 years were streamed from their internet App after moving to Florida.) I owe a lot of my trivial music knowledge to him, and I even borrowed a song or two from his broadcasts for my posts on The Gutter. I think his decision to retire was influenced by the station manager’s push towards music from the 80’s & 90’s (which is fine) while moving away from the 60’s & 70’s (sacrilege). I will miss him, without his radio presence, I’ll probably move back to Sirius/XM. Below is a tribute to his favorite 10 songs for his last goodbye. Note: He often filled in as lead singer for The Cryan Shames. Also, he got his start in Sarasota, FL which explains the last song.

This is beautiful bear #903, Gully, at Brooks Falls in Alaska.
You can watch him fish and chase the ladies all summer on explore.org.
Gully has a very long neck and is an exceptional angler. His mother, #128 Grazer, is a legend at the falls, and she taught him well.
Right now he is waiting for salmon to leap into his mouth, which they will do, as soon as they are running in bigger numbers.
The season has just begun but he already has a pretty good belly goin' on there.
Gully has never won the Fat Bear Week Championship, but I, for one, am ever hopeful because I love him, and come September, he will be massively fat.
