I have to agree with the Congress members who are rejecting this bill.
If it were simply restricting institutional investors and raising loan limits for developers to facilitate additional home building, I could get on board with that.
But when you start giving the federal government authority over local zoning, that's a problem. This bill would give "the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) authority to develop zoning and land-use frameworks" within each state. Can you imagine what certain politicians could do with this power?
And they're already ruining our rural town with high-rise, 100+ unit, HUD apartments popping up everywhere .... so I don't want to give them 20% more taxpayer dollars to continue. If they were building single family homes with the HUD funds, I might feel different, but they're not. These high rise rentals are not producing affordable home ownership.
It's sad when the GOP starts acting like the left just to win elections.

Congratulations to @steve-allen. Two of three of your questions were chosen for tonight’s Ask Greg and the Panelists. This is a first!
Whats the most regrettable purchase do you ever remember making ?
What movie scene in what movie shocked you the most?
This asshole Lander running for Congress in NYC said at his rally, “we are looking to Venezuela and Cuba” and the brain dead fools in the crowd applauded. How in the name of Christ did we get here?
Morning Gutter Gang. And I must say it's nice to be back in the 21st century again. Well, I should just say we've gotten our internet back after being without it yesterday. As with so many other things in life, I didn't miss it till I didn't have access to the net.
But I'm back baby! And I missed a birthday of note as yesterday was Kris Kristofferson's birthday. I had a few tunes ready to share so I'm sharing this morning. The songs are from the 1970's version of the film "A Star is Born" and these are two songs he performed back to back in the film. And when watching, check the irony as Kris' character is swirling the alcohol/drug drain but his stage manager, played by Gary Busey, is the sober, responsible person here. Enjoy, and be glad I didn't include any clips with Barbra Streisand...
