I have been in the wars in a rather large way - repeated lung infections and finally a dose of pneumonia. So they put me back in my bubble and isolated me while they tried to get to the bottom of what's been going on.
The way I look at it, I should have passed on to better things 26 years ago when I had a heart attack while working a night-shift, and at the last minute elected to drive to hospital instead of home (thinking I had the most terrible heartburn).
Everything since then, even though it's involved cancer and COPD, has been a bonus. God has smiled on me.
It's a glorious spring day, warm already (a quarter-past nine), and Her Indoors is getting ready to wheel me into the garden.
I don't have anything to offer the board, as I haven't been able to keep up with international or British affairs (though rumours are rife that Starmer may resign tomorrow - I doubt that). Instead, something closer to home for most of you...
