On April 11, 1945, just months before World War II ended, U.S. soldiers from 6th Armored Division of the Third Army liberated the Buchenwald concentration camp—one of the Nazi regime’s largest and most brutal camps, where prisoners endured forced labor, starvation, disease, executions, and inhumane medical experiments.
