“But, Butt Doc!”

My ever lovely wife and I had our colonoscopies performed by a local doctor here in GA.

Unfortunately for him, he sometime in the past, sold his practice to a conglomerate named ‘United Digestive’.

Why do I say ‘unfortunately’? Because we now need to find a new physician for any future ‘digestive’ testing, or care.

The care and work of the physician was just fine

It’s the billing we have issues with.

They over charged my wife by approximately $319.00, normally, they would just refund the amount to the credit card, or sometimes they send a check.

No, no they didn’t.

They sent her an email with a link to an ‘electronic gift card’ that had been loaded with the $319.00.

All she had to do was follow the link and download the card.

It’s accepted everywhere!

No, she did not.

Following the link and accepting the card would constitute a refund.

Therefore my beautiful bride spent an hour on the phone attempting to get a human that could refund OUR money to the card ‘THEY OVERCHARGED’.

The few times she was able to get a human on the phone, there was nothing they could do without the number of the ‘gift card’, which you don’t have unless you download the damn card.

She ended up contacting our bank, whom issued the credit card, and we will let them handle it. The gentleman she spoke to at the bank told her she was smart not to download the gift card, as it would have made their job of getting the money back, much more difficult.

She was much more measured than I would have been.

Who goes to a ‘butt’ doctor on a regular basis?

Old folks.

I believe it’s a scam.

Physicians offices over charge all of the time, I wouldn’t be surprised if they overcharged people just for the kick back.

I’m positive that they get such a kick back from the gift card issuer, and if the money isn’t all used in a certain amount of time, the issuer gets to keep the amount remaining on the card.

Most elderly people don’t understand what it is, or know how to use an ‘electronic gift card’. Even if it were a physical card, they wouldn’t use it, or use all of the money, not knowing that it ‘expires’.
