Iconic American History:

On March 23, 1775, Patrick Henry delivered his famous "Give me liberty, or give me death!" speech to the Second Virginia Convention at St. John's Church in Richmond, Virginia. Arguing against British tyranny, Henry urged the assembly to prepare for armed resistance, influencing the colony to put its troops into a posture of defense.

Context: The speech was given during a time of intense debate, as American colonists weighed continued negotiation with Great Britain against preparing for military conflict.

Significance: Henry argued that peace with Britain was no longer possible and that war was inevitable, framing the choice as liberty or enslavement.
