Yesterday was the birthday of Leonard Chess (1917) the founder of the Chess record label, home to Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley , Jimmy Reed, even the Rolling Stones. Chess probably did more for Blues, Jazz, R&B, and Rock & Roll than most other record companies. The movie Cadillac Records is a history of Leonard Chess and Chess Records. (Worth a watch.)
