I was PADI scuba certified in 2000, and they were nothing but professional and always kept their eyes on the students.
The comments by the company in the 2017 video seemed extremely flippant, and others in the meeting should have reported his ass to the authorities.

As a pediatrician, I have watched and listened with shock and disbelief at how this whole idea became legitimized and trained professionals who swore an oath to “First, do no harm” bought into this.
Let’s hope the recent court case and jury ruling will be the beginning of a trend to end this once and for all in children, and maybe even bring some common sense to the discussion of doing this in anyone, regardless of age.
