Re the G-block on adding a "killswitch" to cars if intoxicated, I don't think DeSantis is being 100% forthright as this technology has been in cars for years regardless of being electric or not.
"Driver Assisted Technologies" were introduced 20 - 25 years ago...sensing cars passing or crossing line has alerted drivers (and others) for years. Intoxicated or not, driving less than perfect is already detectable to who knows who through nav systems and other vehicle tech. Cars 5 years old already kill the engine if an emergency is detected. Defining "emergency" is what appears to be changing.
Think about it: When did remote car starting gadgets hit the market? I recall the 80s, but reports say the 60s. And what remote key fobs, and where are they manufactured?
How about every state govt pass laws to disable a vehicle if its an illegal approaching the driver door, esp. if they can't read traffic signs and/or have a rap sheet of any kind to prevent them speeding, doing an illegal U-turn or driving the wrong way on our highways...or kill the engine to cube vans driving through a parade or driving a large SUV in an ICE protest? No, that would make too much sense - restrict the law-abiding taxpayer instead under the guise of preventing DUIs. 🙏4 🇺🇲
