1. Jules Verne and giant octopus.
“Jules Verne mentioned Vigo Bay in one of his most popular books “20,000 Leagues Under The Sea”. In this novel, Captain Nemo discovers treasures from sunken ships in this bay. To honour this mention and celebrate its link with the renowned writer’s work, Vigo decided to erect a statue commemorating him. It was created by Spanish sculptor José Molares and unveiled in 2005. Jules Verne had visited Vigo twice.”
