Hi Gutterville...This LA fire🔥 is not as big as ours YET! The Santa Ana winds are howling! At least we got out alive w/one car each...and the feral cat. Many of our neighbors lost pets. So sad to be turned upside down & inside out in a few short hours. Easy to lose your mind to an extent. Easy to feel like it's a vacation you are on in a hotel near your home...the grocery store is over there as is the local Sushi joint, gas station & Target. Going home seems in the near future until the reality hits & your back to a brief understanding though it's a short one that your life as you know it is gone. The dress you wore at your brother's wedding...the shoes, purse, coat, jewelry. Holy Cow! The diamond ring my grandmother gave to papa to give to mama...gone! Is it there? Ok, lemmmy see where I have to search...why are all the roof tiles on top of everything? I want to keep them! Yep, possessiveness of burned beyond recognition items you once enjoyed... artwork you collected, geodes, metal frames of grand pianos all of a sudden become valuable. But we had so much. Guilt hits. Maybe there's a message. Who's sending it? Mother Earth? Mother Nature? God? It's gone. The style you had never to be the same. The favorite clothes you kept poof ash. Metal frames melted. Wood pieces burned. How does one gather your mind & find that person you used to be...in that cute house you prized... in the car(s) that no longer exist. Does it make me / us void? Do we not exist bc of where we live, what we collect, what we treasure. If all of that is gone, do we exist? The grief consumes your every breath. Pray for those losing it all right now. Their journey of comprehending reality is in it's infancy.
