Our church packed boxes of toys, school and hygiene boxes for Samaritan's Purse to go overseas. I brought what I brought last year...a good quality magnifying glass(science teacher alert! Refraction is fun!). You can get them at a pretty good price in bulk on Amazon. The nice lady in charge, Sarah McKee, asked we try and give something they might hold onto over the years. Hell, I kept one so I could read some of that ultra small print they put on stuff these days.🙂
We did 74 boxes this year.
Ladies did 13 prayer quilts for a nursing home in Western NC, and sent a truck load of winter clothes to the mountains as well. That got sent out 2 weeks ago.
I will say it again, it is good to be part of a church...even if you don'tbelieve all the tenets... so you can do good things no matter your budget or schedule. Got not extra money-they can always take an extra pair of hands. Not a lot of time. When you do, pick an evening of weekend afternoon and show up-this just do what you are told.
And as the name Samaritan's Purse implies, and the parable mentions, it is also good to have some cash to do something good if you can't do it personally.
Added bonus-regular church attendance adds years to your life and is correlated to less depression.
Congratulations to @NJFLA and @myafundsarlow your questions were chosen for tonight’s Ask Greg:
@NJFLA What’s the “best” mistake you’ve ever made?
@myafundsarlow If you were Jussie Smollet....What would you have done differently to make your hoax more convincing?
Thank you Andrew @ajwimsatt for providing the video.
