Rule Followers!
I follow rules for the most part.
I’ve been known to cross against the light when there was no traffic.
Although I’m with a group that would wait 20 minutes for a ‘walk’ sign, regardless of traffic.
We pulled into the old Agency Parking lot.
I received the command “find a shady spot with a table!”
I complied, the closest spot to it was a handicap spot.
We have a placard, but it wasn’t easily accessible.
“We need to move or get our permit.”
“No, there’s at least 100 spots, 10
of which are handicap. We are fine. If a park ranger wants to write us a ticket, I’ll move.”
My lovely mother in law went to sit in the car while we walked the little tour path.
She couldn’t stand it, she had to dig out the placard and put it on the dash.
The reason you need to believe people when they tell you who they are, is for later on when they try to deny it.
“The French”
Explorers and trappers indiscriminately used and popularized the name "Nez Percé" for the Nimíipuu and nearby Chinook. The name translates as "pierced nose", but only the Chinook used that form of body modification.
The Nez Perce NHP, is made up of 38 sites located in WA, ID, and MT, which are located in their former tribal range.
We stopped for a quick picnic snack at one of the Nez Perce sites along the Clearwater River (in a river bottom). It was the location of an Indian Agency. There is also an old cemetery here.
We drove past the cutoff for the ‘Palouse’, the eastern Oregon and Washington grasslands. The Nez Perce created and bred a special breed of horses there.
They are known as the Appaloosa.
