I've been absent..I know

Hey everyone, summer is peaking now and had to get away for some RnR and attended the Baseball Circus--aka Cosmic Takeover Tour in Reno NV...not my cup of tea but the families with kids enjoyed it...chaos on top of chaos

Some Labor Day Weekend History -

One of my favorite weekends as a child - we'd camp out in the living room to watch because the Telethon was the only time the TV station didn't sign-off for the night

Jerry Lewis hosted his first official Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) Labor Day telethon on September 5, 1966, raising $1,002,114 in its debut. Throughout the years, the telethon presented a variety of acts to draw viewers and donations. Comedy, musical and dance teams took center stage while stars took calls from generous donors.

Key Details

First Broadcast: Aired on September 5, 1966, from the Americana Hotel and broadcast locally on WNEW-TV in New York.

Growth: The initial success led to an annual tradition over Labor Day weekend, eventually expanding nationwide through the "Love Network".

Legacy: Jerry Lewis hosted the annual event until 2010, helping raise over $2.45 billion for the Muscular Dystrophy Association before the format ended in 2015.
