If you could solve any unsolved mystery what would you want to solve?
Starting the New Year with Ina Garten's ricotta cheese recipe. I will let it sit in the cheese cloth overnight to make sure I get a nice, thick creamy ricotta cheese for my New Year cannolis.
What are you making for New Years?
With everything going on, I hadn't gotten anything for Christmas to Zack's grave and was feeling like such a bad mom that his grave was bare leading up to Christmas. When we finally got our little decorated rosemary plant out there on the 27th, I was truly overjoyed to see he'd been remembered by Wreaths Across America. I'd somehow forgotten that he was made both an Honorary Marine and an Honorary Navy SEAL, because those were his dreams of serving before the cancer changed the plans. We got up there and there had been a wreath laid on his grave since December 13th. Ken and I have often thought if we hadn't lost him to cancer, at home on hospice surrounded by loved ones he could have been killed the same day in Afghanistan, far away from home.
Praying for everyone else who's missing someone in this Christmas season.
If you've never contributed to this wonderful cause, here's the information. I always sponsor a wreath in honor of all the living vets in our family and give them as part of ...
The wine tasting today with my grown nieces and cousin went great. We each brought a bottle of wine and did a tasting. I forgot to take a picture of my charcuterie spread. I also made their favorite ricotta cookies yesterday which they all took home. They loved them. We had fun and lots of laughs. However, I can't help but feel a little sad. The house is so quiet now. We get such few times to spend together and catch up. Three of them are back to college soon, and the fourth one, at least we see each other here and there for breakfast, etc. I am grateful for the time we had, but it is so fleeting. At least I have a day off tomorrow to regroup. Thanks for listening, love you guys.
