Today was our day at the lake, but it wasn't that good of a day for me. The steps down to the beach were easy for the rest of the PSR group to navigate, but all I saw was a straight drop like I was falling off the side of a mountain. I didn't trust myself to walk down the steps, although there were railings, so I sat in the van and listened to the radio while everyone else either frolicked in the water or sat in beach chairs to soak up the sun.
It was heartbreaking, because it reminded me that for all the progress I've made toward regaining my mobility, I'm still not totally there yet. That just tells me I need to work harder and continue to put in the work needed to get my full mobility back. Still, it hurts. I felt like an anchor that was holding everyone down because I couldn't go down the steps to the beach and join in the fun. 😢
