Sitting here thinking about the upcoming holidays, they bring fun but also some people seem to go out of their way to be miserable. All of a sudden, a memory of my mom popped in my head. She used to be involved in PTA, etc. and occasionally someone she was nice to ended up not being so nice to her. Once when I was in my 20s, I asked her why does she keep doing nice things for people when sometimes they stab her in the back? She said because it's worth it for the ones who appreciate it and the friends she does make. Basically, the risk is worth the reward. I miss her.
